Meet the Judges for 2017

Joanne Grennille
Supplier Quality Assurance, Mars Chocolate NA

Joanne has over 20 years of experience in packaging. In her current position with Mars Chocolate she works with packaging suppliers on continuous improvements and ensures that the packaging meets or exceeds standards. Prior to this she worked as a packaging scientist, executing packaging projects for future and existing product formats.

Sandra A. Krasovec
Packaging Design Professor, FIT

Sandra organizes FIT’s annual Sustainable Business and Design Conference, which advocates the value of aligning business strategy with sustainable design, is a managing partner of design management consultancy Design Practicum, and is co-author of Packaging Design: Successful Product Branding from Concept to Shelf, which is widely used as a text for introductory packaging design courses. Her experience runs over 25 years in brand strategy and packaging design for clients such as Coca-Cola, Frito Lay, Gillette, Kraft, M&M Mars, Pillsbury, Quaker Oats, Seagram, and S.C. Johnson.

Gary Miller
Packaging Executive

Gary has over 40 years of experience in the industry and has held managerial positions in both the CPG side of the business in procurement as well as in manufacturing, sales, and marketing. For the past five years he has also judged the Paperboard Packaging Alliance’s Student Design Challenge.

John Lyons III
Former Associate Publisher of Package Design magazine

John brings the consumer/brand identity perspective to the ever-evolving packaging industry, especially as it relates to eco-friendly packaging.

Bill Wynkoop
Adjunct Professor, Packaging, RIT

Bill is also a contributing writer to Package Design magazine. 


Lynsie Gibson
Sourcing Engineer - Packaging, Performance Health / Hygenic Corp.

Lynsie's design won the 2009 Paperboard Packaging Alliance's Student Design Challenge.



Luis Lee
Owner, Luis R. Lee and Associates

Luis has worked as a package designer and as Director of Packaging at Hiram Walker & Sons in Canada. For the past 30 years, he has owned Luis R. Lee and Associates, working with clients such as Häagen-Dazs, Pillsbury, National Distillers, Unilever, and Friendly’s Ice Cream.

Tony Hancock
Retired VP Global Marketing & Innovation, Graphic Packaging Intl.

Tony has recently retired from Graphic Packaging International, where he held the role of VP Global Marketing & Innovation. Through his 37 year career in the packaging industry, working with major food and beverage companies like Kellogg’s, Kraft and Kimberly Clark, Tony developed extensive knowledge of the role packaging plays in building brands, meeting retailer needs and improving the consumer’s experience.
